School Councillors at Parochial
Our school councillors are chosen democratically by their classmates. They are usually chosen because they are good listeners and are willing to communicate everyone's ideas fairly and make sure that their class' voice is heard.
Our school council help to make decisions about things that are important to their classes. They have helped us to write rules, choose experience days, change extra curricular activities to suit preferences etc. Each year, they also choose two charities to support and decide how we will raise money for them.
Last year, the school council managed to bring about these changes:
- Juice on a Friday at lunchtime
- Bigger goals onto the KS2 yard
- Arranged two charity days
- Made wigs in school so no-one felt left out
- Put new equipment (twice) onto the KS2 yard
- Equipped our Calm Zone with books, colouring equipment and some chalks and chalkboards
- Put school council suggestion boxes into school so that everyone felt that their voice could be heard by the council.
- Arranged for referees on the KS2 yard for football
- From Monday, bins will be on the KS2 yard.
School Council Charter
1. We were democratically elected, and all of our decisions and discussions will be democratic.
2. We will bring ideas only if they have been discussed and voted for by our class.
3. We will remind our classmates of different ways to give opinions, including our school council ideas box, and we will check the box regularly.
4. We will remember that everyone needs to be heard; everyone should have a voice.
